Responsibilities:

  • Manages school outreach programmes by initiating and maintaining good working relationship with schools

Requirements:

University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UniMy) invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Computer Science in the Faculty of Computing. This tenure-track position is open all year. Salary is competitive and provides excellent benefits.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate computer science related courses. The typical teaching load is 12-18 credits per semester, with two or three preparations. Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service.

  • Prepare lesson plan and teaching materials at an appropriate level based on the course outline.
  • Use appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods.
  • Apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
  • Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement.
  • Review on a regular basis program content and materials, updating when required.
  • Supervise the work of students - including assignments, tutorials, quizzes, presentation, projects and provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
  • Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria and set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Notified to students of their coursework marks before lecture week ends.
  • Prepare examination questions and make sure they are correct; of an appropriate length and difficulty; cover the material in the course adequately.
  • Mark final exam scripts based on marking criteria appropriate to the learning outcomes.
  • Finalize and submit final grades before the deadline date.
  • Other task assigned by the faculty from time to time.
Requirements:

Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and present evidence of excellent teaching. A willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty, and to become involved in university service, is essential. It is expected that the candidate remain professionally active in the computing community.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in oral and written communications. In addition, he or she must have observable dedication to undergraduate education; enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; and ability to work in teams in a collegial environment. The applicant may be required to teach courses through alternative delivery methods.

  • Candidate must possess at least a Master Degree or currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Multimedia/ Business Computing, Cyber Security, Game Development, Animation or equivalent
  • Having skills in graphic, animation, game development, mobile app development are an advantage.
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Melayu and English
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience
  • Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
