COURSE MODULES
Year 1
Introduction to Accounting
This module introduces basic accounting concepts, including the accounting equation, double-entry system, ledger, and journals. You’ll learn about assets, liabilities, capital, and how to prepare trading, profit and loss accounts, and balance sheets, as well as stock evaluation, bank reconciliation, and control accounts.
Introduction to Economics
This module covers key economic concepts, focusing on microeconomics and macroeconomics. You’ll explore supply and demand models, trade-offs at the firm level, and examine macroeconomic issues and the government’s role in addressing market failures and economic objectives.
Basic Concepts of Marketing
This module explores marketing concepts, processes, strategies, environmental influences, consumer buying behaviors, international marketing, and product and promotion strategies, focusing on consumer and business buying behaviors.
Introduction to Digital Marketing
This module teaches digital marketing skills, covering channels, tools, and techniques. You’ll learn to create customer profiles, plan and execute campaigns, and monitor them on platforms like social media, Google Ads, and Facebook, while developing content for customer lifecycles.
Design Thinking
This module explores the application of Design Thinking in fields like engineering, management, and IT. You’ll learn how it’s used in problem-solving, business model design, facilitation, mediation, visualization, and innovation, encouraging you to improve your methods and toolset.
Business Statistics
This module covers basic statistics in business, practical applications, data collection, presentation, probability, normal distribution, hypothesis testing, one-sample tests, two-sample tests, variance analysis, categorical data tests, simple regression, and correlation.
Introduction to Finance
This module covers financial environment, interest rate fundamentals, risk and return, time value of money, corporate securities, valuations, financial statement analysis, and capital budgeting concepts.
Introduction to Management
This module delves into the fundamentals of management, including planning, organising, directing, and monitoring, and emphasises the significance of effective communication among managers.
Content Marketing
This module teaches content strategies for inbound and email marketing campaigns. You’ll learn about planning, content creation, promotion, optimisation, email campaigns, and marketing automation.
Search Engine Marketing and Optimisation
This module covers SEO strategies, the role of content, search and display campaigns, remarketing, and advanced Google Ads features. You’ll learn to optimise, analyse competitive SEO, and run paid campaigns for search, display, video, and mobile.
Year 2
Operations Management
This module covers management operations, efficient workplace design, method study, work measurement, and planning, scheduling, and control systems for manufacturing and service businesses. You’ll complete group projects and reports to apply these concepts.
Web Design and Development
This module covers web programming basics, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, PHP, Node.js, MySQL, and wireframes, with a focus on web design and good coding practices. You’ll use editors like Notepad++ and Brackets for hardcoding and manage web pages. Dynamic web development is taught with XAMPP and frameworks like Bootstrap and Vue, culminating in a web development project.
Social Media Marketing
This module covers social media marketing strategies, including content creation, social listening, influencer marketing, and campaign execution. You’ll learn to plan, run, and monitor ad campaigns, analyse user behaviour, and optimise them effectively.
Consumer Behaviour
This module includes the economic, sociological, and psychological factors that influence consumer behaviour and how these factors may be used to enhance the practice of marketing.
Introduction to Human Resource Management
This module covers Human Resource Management in Malaysia, including job design, recruitment, selection, development, career management, and diversity management.
Marketing Analytics
This module covers digital marketing strategies, user behaviour analysis, and campaign tracking using Google Analytics. You’ll learn to set up dashboards, customise reports, track goals, and analyse conversion rates, using Google Analytics metrics to evaluate marketing campaigns.
Big Data and Emerging Innovation
This module covers big data management, storage, analysis, and visualisation, providing you with the fundamentals, technologies, and tools for solving real-world problems, machine learning, predictive modelling, and advanced analytics applications.
Business Mathematics
This module teaches you fundamental mathematical skills for business, finance, and investment decision making, focusing on arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and algebraic operations.
Final Year Project
This module focuses on creating a project plan for business activities, blending theoretical principles with practical application. You’ll learn data collection, analysis, and decision-making, with guidance from a management lecturer, while integrating relevant references.
Organisational Behaviour
This module provides a comprehensive understanding of Organisational Behaviour theories, focusing on how individual and group behaviours influence culture, design, ethics, learning, and structure. You’ll also engage in experiential learning in conflict resolution, communication, decision-making, leadership, and organisational politics.
Year 3
Practical Training
This module gives you the chance to experience the working environment of organisations outside the university, allowing you to apply lecture concepts and theories to real-world business management practices.
MPU MODULES
New Venture Creation
This module provides the foundation for a structured programme, helping you capitalise on opportunities to start and grow sustainable businesses in the mainstream economy. You’ll learn how to tender for business opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
Appreciation of Ethics and Civilisation (Malaysian students) / Malay Communication 1 (International students)
The Appreciation of Ethics and Civilisation module helps you understand ethics in relation to the National Principles, government policies, and national development. You’ll explore Malaysia’s history and civilisation-building efforts. Malay Communication 1 teaches the basics of the Malay language for daily communication, including reading, writing, and understanding simple sentences.
Integrity and Anti-Corruption
This module covers the basic concepts of corruption including the value of integrity, anti-corruption, forms of corruption, abuse of power in daily activities and organisations as well as ways to prevent corruption. At the end of this module, you will be able to understand the practice of integrity, the concept of corruption, anti-corruption, abuse of power, as well as the prevention of corruption in society and organisations.
Community Service
Community Service focuses on the development of your communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills through community service and cooperative learning. This will include the values of social responsibility, leadership and teamwork. The primary emphasis is on community service and/or co-curricular activities that may require going beyond the university environment.
National Language A (only for students without credit in SPM BM)
Bahasa Kebangsaan A helps you grasp the national language to effectively communicate, and express thoughts clearly and creatively through verbal and written communication.
