How Do I Get In?
- Pass SPM or its equivalent with at least credits in three (3) subjects, including Mathematics and one (1) relevant Science/Technical/Vocational subject AND a pass in English; or
- Pass STPM or its equivalent with a pass in Mathematics, English and one (1) relevant Science / Technical / Vocational subject at the SPM level; or
- A recognised Certificate in Engineering (Level 3 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) or its equivalent;
- Any other qualification approved by the University Senate

COURSE MODULES
Year 1
Application Mathematics 1
This module covers topics related to matrices and basic calculus. You’ll learn methods to solve systems of linear equations, understand limits and continuity of functions, explore differentiation and its applications, as well as integration and its uses.
Basic Computing
This introductory module helps you understand how information technology can boost productivity through hands-on learning. You’ll work with popular software packages, including document preparation, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, email, and groupware software. You’ll also learn how to use common computer hardware correctly.
C++ Programming
This module contains introduction topics to programming using the language C/C++. It includes an introduction to computers and programming as well as the basics of programming, problem solving and software development. Data types and operators, selections, repetitions, functions, arrays, files, structured data, and pointers are among the topics to be studied in this module.
Analog Electronic Devices
This module introduces basic electronic devices such as diodes and various types of transistors. You’ll start with semiconductor physics theory, including PN junctions, charge flow, and diode equations. The module covers Zener diodes, FETs, BJTs, and their operating regions. You’ll also learn the basics of amplifiers, including biasing, gain, input and output resistances, analysis, and design. By the end, you’ll be familiar with the applications of operational amplifiers.
Principle Of Electrical Circuit
This module covers the basic laws, theorems, and methods of DC circuit analysis, including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Current and Voltage Laws, and Thevenin and Norton theorems. You’ll apply these principles to solve DC electric circuits. The module also introduces concepts in transient circuit analysis and discusses circuits with series and parallel capacitors and inductors.
Application Mathematics 2
This module covers differential calculus, integral calculus, partial differentiation, linear algebra and their methods and applications.
Database Management System
This module covers the fundamental concepts needed for designing, using, and implementing database and document management systems. The focus is on the relational database model, database application development, and practical skills.
Object Oriented Using Java
This module helps you identify solutions to computational problems using object-oriented concepts, capture reusable design patterns, and write programs in object-oriented programming languages. It covers the abstraction of objects, Abstract Data Types, OOP concepts, and programming methodology in depth.
Effective Communication - Workplace and Persuasive Presentation
This module focuses on basic workplace communication skills and persuasive presentations. You’ll explore different communication paradigms, interpersonal communication in the workplace, conflict resolution, persuasion and negotiation strategies, and guidelines for giving and receiving feedback.
Digital Electronics
This is an introductory module on logic circuits and digital systems. It covers design and implementation of combinational logic circuits, synchronous sequential circuits, information storage circuits, binary codes, binary arithmetic, and typical computer operations on binary data.
Electronic Instrumentation & Measurement
You will be introduced to the concepts and principles of measurement systems, including their components, the systems used for measurement, devices for testing, displaying, and analysing signals, as well as sensors and technologies for data acquisition.
Pengajian Malaysia II
This module discusses Malaysia's history, its constitution, government and administrative system, electoral process, society, culture and religion, socioeconomic growth, national development, and future challenges in the age of globalisation.
Cognitive Process and Problem Solving
This module allows you to explore key issues of knowledge and critical topics related to education. You’ll also be introduced to various heuristic frameworks and learn to apply strategies for effective learning, thinking, and problem-solving.
Design Thinking
This module explores the interpretations and meanings of Design Thinking across various fields, including engineering, management, and information technology. You’ll analyse its application in areas such as information management, engineering, innovation, entrepreneurship, and management, highlighting its broad applicability.
Year 2
Probability & Statistics
This module introduces the basics of statistics, covering both descriptive and inferential statistics. Topics include probability, discrete and continuous distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, and correlation and regression.
Cyberpreneurship
This module prepares you to become a cyberpreneur and run technology-based SMEs or start-ups. It covers two main areas: product development (creating new products or innovating existing ones) and commercialising the product (including the process of creating a new venture). You’ll also explore electronic commerce principles, internet and web infrastructure, e-commerce tools and software, security, electronic payment systems, and current e-commerce trends.
Python Programming
This module introduces programming and problem-solving using Python. You’ll learn basic principles, constructs, and tools, covering topics such as types, conditional statements, iteration, functions, data structures, files, standard libraries, numpy, and regular expressions. Weekly labs offer guided practice on each topic using computers and software.
Robotic Technology
This module introduces you to key technologies in the design of robotic systems, automated work cells, and computer-integrated manufacturing systems. You’ll explore work cell support systems, robot and system integration, and safety design in robot applications. The module also covers modern robotics, IoT, and smart applications.
Smart Automation Technology
This module introduces the basic principles of automated manufacturing, including the history and applications of robots and automated systems, as well as their configuration, operation, components, and controls. By the end, you will understand automation and robotic systems, smart automation in manufacturing, and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 concept of smart automation.
Automatic Control
In automated industrial process controls or power stations, it’s essential to understand the basics of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), their operation, and programming. PLCs are widely used across industries for efficient control operations. This subject explores their industrial applications, making it a valuable part of the current curriculum.
Sensors & Actuators (Embedded/Microcontroller Application)
This module will help you understand measurements as a crucial subsystem in any major system, whether mechanical or electronic.
Robotic System & Peripheral
Robotic systems are programmable, multifunctional devices designed to move materials, parts, tools, or specialized devices through programmed motions to perform various tasks. An industrial robot system includes not only the robot but also any devices or sensors needed to carry out tasks, as well as communication interfaces for sequencing or monitoring. This module also covers the safety considerations essential for operating robots properly.
Electrical Machine (AC-DC Current for Motor)
This module covers the principles of AC and DC motors, motor control, and machine operations within complex mechatronic systems. You will learn about the functions and properties of machine control elements and their roles in the system. By performing measurements on motors and motor control circuits, you will apply troubleshooting strategies to identify, locate, and fix malfunctions. Safety issues within the system will also be addressed.
Micro Controller Programming – Arduino & R-Pi
This module expands your knowledge of microprocessors by exploring embedded system design and advanced 32-bit embedded processors. You will also become familiar with the challenges involved in developing hardware and software.
Final Year Project
This module offers a capstone design experience where you will design and develop a media project. You will be required to submit a written report, demonstrate your project, and give an oral presentation.
Issues in Malaysian Economy
This module covers the history and development of the Malaysian economy, exploring socio-economic issues and key economic sectors, including agriculture, industry, government, and foreign sectors. It also looks into Malaysia's population and employment.
Co-curriculum
This module covers community involvement projects, focusing on proposal preparation and the traits of effective projects. It aims to help you understand and appreciate the implementation of such projects. By the end, you'll develop values, ethics, leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility.
Engineering Drawing (Auto Cad/Solid Works)
This module introduces technical drawing as a key method for communicating ideas in industry and engineering. You will learn the basics of electrical and electronic design and drawing, with a focus on applications in robotic systems.
Year 3
Industrial Training
This training places you in the industry for 12 weeks, where you'll gain hands-on experience relevant to your field of specialisation. You'll have the chance to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom and work on industrial projects that meet the organisation's requirements.
